In the 50s, the TV show aired live, so timing was a big concern. During one broadcast, Milton Berle was having such a good time telling stories that the show literally ran out of time and was cut off the air. Berle returned the following week for the wrap-up, then helped Ralph surprise Alice Middleton McDougall, a survivor of the 1915 sinking of the Lusitania.
